What does an accounting service in Thailand cover?

It records and reconciles business transactions, prepares financial reports, and handles the tax returns included in the engagement. VAT, withholding tax, payroll and annual work depend on your company’s activities and agreed service scope.

One clear accounting scope

Know what is handled each month

Start with your transaction volume, tax registrations and reporting needs. We distinguish routine bookkeeping from payroll, year-end work and specialist support before you engage us.

01 / BOOKKEEPING

Keep the books in order

Record sales, expenses, receipts and payments. Match source documents and reconcile bank balances so your accounts reflect the underlying transactions.

Outputs: general ledger, trial balance and supporting schedules.

02 / MONTHLY TAX

File the returns that apply

Bookkeeping Essential covers P.N.D.53 and P.P.30 where applicable. Ask us to scope P.N.D.1, P.N.D.3, P.N.D.54 or P.P.36 if your business needs them.

Tax payable is separate from professional service fees.

03 / REPORTING

Understand your numbers

Review monthly financial reports, receivables and payables. Discuss additional reporting if you need visibility by division, product line or sales channel.

Closing dates and custom reports are agreed in the engagement.

04 / PAYROLL

Coordinate salaries & SSO

Add payroll processing and Social Security support where needed. Confirm employee numbers, payroll tax returns, enrolment and annual work separately.

Explore payroll services →
05 / YEAR-END

Prepare for annual obligations

Plan financial statements, corporate income tax returns and audit coordination. The quotation should distinguish accounting preparation, the independent audit and DBD submission.

Annual work is not automatically included in monthly bookkeeping.

06 / SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Scope BOI & cross-border work

Discuss BOI and non-BOI account segregation, overseas transactions, cost allocation and additional reporting before choosing a package.

Which tax filings does your company need?

There is no single monthly checklist for every company. Your VAT status, payment types, employees and overseas transactions determine the obligations that apply.

Common returns and when to assess them
Return / obligationWhat it relates toWhen relevant
P.P.30Monthly VAT returnVAT-registered businesses, including months with no sales.

P.N.D.51Half-year corporate income taxGenerally within 2 months after the first 6 months of the accounting period; exceptions may apply.
P.N.D.50Annual corporate income taxGenerally within 150 days after the accounting period ends.
Annual financial statements & auditYear-end reporting and DBD submissionThai limited companies generally retain annual obligations even when inactive.

Approaching THB1.8 million turnover?

For VAT-taxable activities, registration is generally required within 30 days after annual turnover exceeds THB1.8 million. This is a revenue threshold, not a profit threshold. Exempt activities need separate review.

Do not wait until year-end

Separate monthly bookkeeping and returns from half-year tax, annual corporate tax and the statutory audit. Keeping the records current helps identify missing invoices and unreconciled balances earlier.

General information, not a company-specific filing calendar. Electronic filing extensions, public holidays, special rules and your accounting period can affect due dates. Confirm current deadlines before filing.

Starting fresh or changing provider

A clear handover, from the first conversation

You can change accountants during the year. The key is knowing which work is complete, what is outstanding and who is responsible for the next filing.

STEP 01

Review your current position

Share your activity, VAT status, employees, transaction volume and outstanding deadlines. Flag any missing records or overdue returns.

STEP 02

Agree the scope & fees

Confirm monthly deliverables, additional returns, software, year-end responsibilities, handover work and the document timetable in writing.

STEP 03

Transfer & reconcile

Arrange access to your records, confirm opening balances and resolve handover questions before starting the agreed monthly workflow.

Accountant handover checklist

Prepare your latest trial balance and general ledger; bank statements and reconciliations; sales and purchase records; tax returns and filing receipts; prior audited financial statements; fixed-asset and other supporting schedules; and authorised access to accounting systems.

Ask about the existing switch-over offer. Its eligibility and any historical correction or migration work should be confirmed in your quotation.

Built around your business model

Different businesses need different accounting attention

Startups & small companies

Establish a workable document routine, understand the returns that apply and choose a fee tier that reflects actual activity.

Foreign-owned & service businesses

Coordinate Thai records with owner reporting needs and assess cross-border receipts, payments and expense documentation.

E-commerce, retail & F&B

Discuss sales channels, payment fees, refunds, inventory records and POS data before agreeing transaction volume and reconciliation scope.

Accounting in Thailand: frequently asked questions

How much do accounting services cost in Thailand?

UnionSPACE Bookkeeping Essential starts at THB3,500 per month for fewer than five transactions, subject to 7% VAT. Fees increase with transaction volume and complexity. Payroll, year-end work, audit and additional tax returns must be checked against your written quotation.

What is included in the monthly bookkeeping package?

Bookkeeping Essential includes document collection, verification and matching, transaction entry, bank reconciliation, monthly financial reports, general ledger, trial balance, debtor and creditor ageing, cloud accounting software and onboarding. It also includes P.N.D.53 and P.P.30 filing where applicable, and up to five withholding tax certificates per month. Other filings and services are scoped separately.

Can foreign-owned companies use UnionSPACE for Thai accounting?

Yes. UnionSPACE supports Thai and foreign-owned businesses operating in Thailand. English-speaking coordination helps owners understand the records, tax filings and documents required. Cross-border payments, reporting needs and transaction complexity are reviewed before quotation.

When must a business register for VAT in Thailand?

A business supplying VAT-taxable goods or services generally must register within 30 days after annual turnover exceeds THB1.8 million. The threshold concerns turnover, not profit. Exempt activities and other VAT rules need separate assessment.

Does a VAT-registered company need to file P.P.30 when it has no sales?

Yes. A VAT-registered business generally continues filing monthly P.P.30 returns even when there are no sales or no VAT payable. Having no activity does not automatically cancel VAT registration.

Does an inactive Thai limited company still need accounting and an audit?

An inactive Thai limited company generally still needs accounting records, annual financial statements, a statutory audit and annual corporate income tax filing. Monthly tax returns depend on registration status and transactions. Ask for a dormant-company quotation rather than assuming that all obligations stop.

Are annual audit fees included in monthly bookkeeping?

Do not assume they are included. Annual financial statements, P.N.D.50 preparation and filing, the independent statutory audit, and DBD submission are distinct tasks. Your quotation should identify which tasks are included, who performs them and any separate fees.

Can I switch accountants during the financial year?

Yes. First confirm the last completed accounting period and submitted returns. The handover should cover the trial balance, general ledger, tax filing receipts, bank reconciliations, supporting schedules, prior audited accounts and software access. Any missing records or historical corrections are assessed separately.

Which accounting software is included?

The existing UnionSPACE offer includes a supported cloud accounting subscription and onboarding. Options include PEAK, FlowAccount and SMEMove, subject to the agreed plan and suitability. Existing systems, migration, integrations and additional licences are reviewed before engagement.

Can you handle payroll, SSO and overseas payments?

Payroll and Social Security support can be added to the engagement. Overseas payments may require separate withholding tax and VAT analysis, including P.N.D.54 or P.P.36 where applicable. These services should be expressly included in your quotation.

What documents do you need to prepare an accounting quotation?

Share your company name, business activity, VAT status, approximate monthly transaction count, employee count, overseas transaction volume, current accounting system and any overdue filings. The team can then assess the monthly scope, handover work and year-end requirements.

Can I see my accounts online?

Yes. The agreed cloud accounting setup gives authorised users access to recorded financial information and documents. Online access does not mean every transaction is already reconciled; reporting accuracy depends on complete documents, processing and the agreed closing timetable.
