How to Apply for a Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa in Thailand

We assist eligible foreign nationals in obtaining a Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa in Thailand, including eligibility assessment, document preparation, BOI coordination, and compliance with Thai immigration requirements.

Introduction

Thailand offers the Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa program to attract highly skilled professionals, wealthy individuals, investors, and retirees who wish to live and work in Thailand for an extended period. The LTR Visa provides long-term residency privileges and various incentives designed to support Thailand’s economic development and global competitiveness.

The LTR Visa program is administered by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) in coordination with the Thai Immigration Bureau and other government agencies. Successful applicants may receive a 10-year renewable visa, along with several benefits including streamlined immigration procedures and tax incentives.

The LTR Visa is designed for qualified foreigners who contribute to Thailand’s economy, innovation, or investment landscape.

UnionSPACE Visa & Immigration Team assists eligible applicants with the LTR Visa application process, including eligibility assessment, document preparation, and coordination with the relevant government authorities.

The Scope

Applying for an LTR Visa in Thailand involves eligibility verification, submission of supporting documentation, and approval from the Thailand Board of Investment.

01
Eligibility assessment and LTR category selection

The first step is determining whether the applicant qualifies under one of the LTR Visa categories.

The LTR Visa program includes four primary categories: Wealthy Global Citizens, Wealthy Pensioners, Work-from-Thailand Professionals, and Highly Skilled Professionals.

Our team reviews the applicant’s financial profile, employment status, and qualifications to determine eligibility.

02
Document preparation and application submission

Applicants must submit documentation demonstrating that they meet the financial, professional, or investment criteria required for the LTR Visa.

The application is submitted through the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) online system.

Our team assists with preparing the LTR Visa application documents, reviewing financial and employment documentation, submitting the application to the BOI, and coordinating with authorities during the review process.

The BOI will evaluate the application and confirm whether the applicant meets the eligibility requirements.

03
Approval and endorsement by the BOI

Once the application has been reviewed and approved, the BOI will issue a qualification endorsement letter confirming that the applicant meets the LTR Visa requirements.

This endorsement allows the applicant to proceed with the visa issuance process through Thai immigration authorities.

04
Visa issuance and immigration processing

After receiving BOI endorsement, the applicant may obtain the LTR Visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate abroad, or the Thai Immigration Bureau within Thailand.

Upon issuance, the applicant will receive a 10-year visa, typically issued as two consecutive five-year periods.

LTR Visa holders may also apply for a digital work permit if they intend to work in Thailand.
