I’m married to a Thai. How can I apply for a Marriage Visa (Non-O Visa)

Thai marriage visa can be obtained if a foreigner is married to Thai citizen, it is similar class as the Non-Immigrant Visa “B” or Non “B” visa for working, but the Thai Marriage Visa is exclusive for those who have Thai spouse. Marriage Visa is called Non-Immigrant Visa “O” or Non “O”.

There are certain requirements that has to be met in order for the wife or spouse of the Thai citizen to be able to secure a Thai Marriage Visa (Non O Visa)

Who are eligible to apply for Thai Marriage Visa?

As the name of the visa itself, Thai Marriage Visa can be obtained by those who have registered marriage with a Thai Citizen.

After you have formalized and registered your Marriage , the foreigner will be eligible to apply for Thai Marriage Visa or Non-Immigrant “O” visa under the category of Thai Spouse.

Getting this type of visa is quite easy and the process and requirements are straightforward, but all of the documents must be authenticated and certified before you apply for a Thai Marriage Visa.

Note: When you register Marriage with Thai Citizen, it doesn’t automatically grant you the Thai Marriage Visa, you have to apply for it at the Immigration Office and provide the required documents for the visa application.

Furthermore, you must also be qualified in order for the Immigration to grant you this visa.

Step by step to apply for a Thai Marriage Visa

Step 1: Marry a Thai citizen and obtain the Marriage Certificate by registering your marriage at a Thai district offices, which are also known as “Amphur” or “Khet”.

Step 1b: After the Marriage Certificate has been issued to you by the District Office, you can already proceed with the Thai Marriage Visa Application.

Step 2: Ensure you have at least 15 more days left on your existing Visa. It is possible to convert your Tourist Visa or other visa to a Thai Marriage Visa (Non O Visa) if you comply with all the requirements.

Step 3: *Important* To qualify for a Thai Marriage Visa, you MUST have at least THB400,000 in your Thai Bank account for at least 3 months prior to your Thai Marriage Visa application or you can provide a PND.1 and PND91 documents to prove that you are earning at least THB40,000 per month in Thailand and that you’re paying taxes for it.

When your Thai Marriage Visa is first approve, it will be valid for 3 months only thereafter you can renew it 1 year at a time.

Thai marriage visa requirements 2022.

Thai Marriage Visa requirements 2022 are different from other Non-Immigrant Visa, although the process for Marriage Visa is quite easy but you must ensure that you’ve all the documents and you are qualified according to the Immigration Office, yes at the immigration officer discretion.

Here are the following basic requirements you have to keep in mind for your Thai Marriage Visa application:

  1. Passport (must be valid for at least 6 months and must have 2 blank pages)
  2. Copy of your Thai marriage certificate (both versions);
  3. Copy of your Thai wife’s ID card
  4. Copy of your Thai wife’s Tabian Baan (House Registration Papers)
  5. Copy of a map to your residence in Thailand
  6. Copy of photos showing you and your wife together (House, Inside of the House, Family Picture, Outside of the House)
  7. Copy of your bank book showing 400,000 THB in your bank account deposited at least 3 months prior to visa application or copy of your income showing 40,000 THB per month in income
  8. Bank Guarantee and Bank Statement

The Immigration Office will require you to show the following documents in order for them to consider your Thai Marriage Visa application.

Marriage Registration with a Thai citizen doesn’t guarantee you will get Thai Marriage Visa, it will always depend on the documents you are able to provide and at the sole discretion of the Thai Immigration Officer.
